The Marathon Man: Phil Ling for Merton Council!

May 3, 2014 6:34 PM

Phil Ling, Candidate for West BarnesPhil has been involved with the Liberal Democrats since his University days. When asked why he joined the party, he said: "I believe in fairness, a stronger economy and a greener environment which is what the party stands for."

He stood as parliamentary candidate in 2010 in Bromsgrove and has served as Chair of the Chinese Liberal Democrats. He is presently the Treasurer of Chinese LibDems and is a management consultant by profession.

Having been an activist for a number of years, Phil has recognises the need for engagement with voters.

"There is too much rhetoric and not enough action focused on every day issues" he added. For him, this is one of the reasons the Liberal Democrats and their commitment to localism, and standing up for local residents rather than playing politics, is one which he is proud to carry on locally.

In West Barnes ward, where Phil is standing, the key issues are step free access to local train stations, safer streets (20mph zones in all residential areas) and protecting the vulnerable from further Council cuts.

When he's not campaigning, Phil also volunteers for a charity, Street Kids International, and is an active sports person. What a hero!

To support Phil, join his action day on Sunday May 11th. Meet at 35 Linkway, London, SW20 9AT. Nearest train station Raynes Park. 11.30am to 5pm. Lunch and tea provided. Please confirm via pkfling@gmail.com or 07545589693
