London Assembly List selections success

October 13, 2015 8:40 PM

Congratulations to Vice-Chair Merlene Emerson for securing the third place in the Lib Dem Greater London Authority List selections. The London Assembly is made up of 25 members based in City Hall who oversee the work of the London Mayor, currently Boris Johnson.

The internal party selections were conducted over the summer and the results announced by the Returning Officer on 25 September. In rank order, the results were:

1, Caroline Pidgeon AM

2. Emily Davey

3. Merlene Emerson

4. Rob Blackie

5. Stephen Knight AM

6. Zack Polanski

As the elections for the London wide list will be based on proportionate representation, should the Liberal Democrats achieve say 11 per cent or more of the votes in 2016, we should be able to elect 3 Liberal Democrats onto the London Assembly.

Merlene says, "I would like to thank all London Liberal Democrat members who had voted for me in the recent selections and look forward to flying the Liberal Democrat flag going forwards. It would indeed be a privilege to be able to serve on the London Assembly, standing up for all of London's communities!"
