Sep 2006

Launch of Chinese Liberal Democrats founded by Linda Chung and Merlene Emerson at the Libdem Conference in Brighton, during leadership of Sir Menzies Campbell MP (now Lord Campbell). Linda Chung first Chair of CLD, Vice-Chairs Sam Li and Paul Bensilum.

May 2007

Anna Lo MLA of sister party, Alliance Party is elected to NI Assembly. CLD invite her to London with visit to Palace of Westminster with Chinese community group

June 2008

CLD takes part in Dragon Boat Race as "Min Zhu Long" or "Democracy Dragons" at London Regatta Centre

Sep 2008

Linda Chung wins byelection and becomes Councillor of Camden Council following campaign with slogan "Love Hampstead, Vote Linda"

Feb 2009

CLD helped to organise fundraising event for families of 23 cockle pickers on 5th anniversary of the tragedy at Morecambe Bay

May-June 2009

CLD supports "Strangers to Citizens" campaign working with Citizens UK and BC Project's "Get Active Get Voting" campaign encouraging British Chinese to register to vote
