Marguerita Morton, Council Candidate in Tunbridge Wells (Southborough & High Brooms)

April 17, 2018 1:20 PM

Marguerita Morton and Paddy AshdownMarguerita in her own words:

I have been active as a member of the Liberal Democrat party since 2003 when I was first elected as a Town Councillor for Southborough and re-elected in 2007.

I came to Tunbridge Wells as an 11 year old from Hong Kong with my parents for a better education and prospects. It was my parents who taught me the value of education. hard work, and a loving family.

I lived in Tunbridge Wells for 37 years and studied as well as worked in Canada and in the USA. My daughter attended Claremont CP School and Tunbridge Wells Girls Grammar School. Whilst a parent at Claremont, I campaigned to keep class sizes below 30. It is crucially important to me that young people get the best education available from the very start.

I am passionate about improving the lives of all residents of Tunbridge Wells because I want to represent all the people of this town which I love and challenge the Conservative cuts to services. I want to promote safe cycling in residential zones in the interests of improving road safety; and preserve the local environment, in particular open and green spaces so everyone can enjoy a healthy and rewarding life.
