On Wednesday the Chinese Embassy hosted a celebration for the 61st Anniversary of the founding of the Peoples Republic of China. It brought together many of those who have worked with the Embassy as well as diplomats as diverse as Denmark and Sweden to Algeria and U.A.E.

The Liberal Democrats well represented with Ministers such as Jeremy Browne MP and Chris Huhne MP present as well as Lords Tim Clement-Jones and Lord Alderdice. The Chinese Liberal Democrats were present with Cllr Allan Siao Ming Witherick.

Addressing a packed room we heard about the incredible strides in development that the Chinese have achieved since the founding of the republic.

This was really shown by the photographs of the World Expo, currently coming to its end in Shanghai, coming after the Olympics.

The question is… what next?
