Achieving as Visible Chinese
Following in the foot steps of Merlene Emerson who has been listed on the Visible Chinese website for over a year, Allan Siao Ming Witherick's profile was recently added. The website aims to be the "Visible Chinese ... guide to individuals at the forefront of the UK's Chinese Culture." and reflects those who have contributed to the community.
Cllr Allan Siao Ming Witherick said:
"I have actually been nominated for the website twice this year. The first time I must admit I questioned whether I had really done enough to warrant it. A second nomination last month got me thinking about it harder, although I still didn't take any action.
But over the weekend, while I was in Malta for an international conference speaking on a panel, I was asked to join their Presidium as the equivalent of an Elder Statesman for the youth organisation. This was an honour and a privilege and made me realise why I should be listed on the website.
I'm always willing to work hard for the things I believe in, often behind the scenes and with little praise- I don't need it. But unless people active in the community are willing to show what they do, we can't act as role models or examples for others.
I am proud to join Merlene Emerson on the website and hope it encourages others to become more active!"
