Anna Lo of the Alliance Party in "New View 50"

Anna Lo MBE

Anna Lo MBE has been named as one of the recipients of "New View 50" awards, given to the top 50 BAME professionals in the public sector by Elevation Networks. She came to London to receive her award at a recent ceremony held at the Houses of Parliament.

At No. 28, Anna Lo was described as follows:

"Elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly in 2007, Anna is the Chair of the Environment Committee and a member of the Assembly Employment and Learning Committee, Audit Committee, Standards & Privileges Committee as well as a number of All Party Association Groups.

Anna was awarded an MBE in 1999 for services to ethnic communities."

CLDs had invited Anna to Parliament in June 2007 shortly after her election as the first ethnic Chinese person serving on a legislative body in Europe, and we are thrilled to hear of her award and recognition of her work.

We understand from Anna that she has since stepped down from the NI Assembly when the Assembly was dissolved on 29 March. She is currently busy helping her colleagues in South Belfast and North Down where she lives in addition to finishing the final chapters of her autobiography. We look forward to this and wish Anna all the best in her "retirement" which will no doubt be as busy as when she was on the Assembly.

New View 50 is the BAME Public sector List supported by Green Park and the Voice and the full list is published here:
