Chinese Lib Dems are firm supporters of the BC Project and joined in the Action Day last Sunday 22 March in London's Chinatown. Merlene Emerson, PPC for Hammersmith was there with representatives from other parties to help man the stall set up to encourage members of the Chinese community to register to vote for the coming Euro elections in June this year.

"Get Active, Get Voting" read the literature. It also had a quote from Cllr Linda Chung stating: "Don't lose your vote - don't lose your voice".

When asked by Steven Cheung, presenter of Chinese Youth Radio why it is important to vote, Merlene said that politics affects all areas of our lives, from where we send our children to school, to how we look after our elders.

"Chinese living in the UK are still poor at turning out on polling day but we should be telling the politicians what we want - afterall we live in a democracy", Merlene added.
