Chinese Liberal Democrats usher in the New Year of the Tiger at celebrations in Chinatown

On Sunday 21 February, PPC for Hammersmith Merlene Emerson and Jonathan Fryer, Chair of Liberal Democrats London Region, representing Chinese Liberal Democrats, joined other well wishers on the stage at Dean Street.

Jonathan Fryer commented "London's Chinatown spilled well over onto the north side of Shaftesbury Avenue in Soho today, as a Chinese New Year Festival drew crowds of many thousands of revellers. There was also a serious side to at least part of the proceedings, as the team I have been involved with that has been encouraging the Chinese community in Britain to register and vote not only had a stall at the event, but also hosted a spot on the main entertainment stage." (http://jonathanfryer.wordpress.com/). The event was, as usual, compered by Joseph Wu, Chinese Programme Manager of Spectrum Radio and his colleagues.

Merlene also helped out at the "Get Active Get Voting" stall and encouraged and enthused both young and old to get registered in time to vote in the coming elections this year.
