At a Black History Month reception at the House of Commons on 22nd October, we saw the launch of the Operation Black Vote Mentoring scheme for black and ethnic minority women councillors.

There were no less than 16 aspiring ethnic minority women who are keen to stand as Liberal Democrat councillors.

Liberal Democrats Cllr Meral Ece, Chair of Ethnic Minority Lib Dems said:

"I am impressed with the number of talented women from black and minority ethnic communities who see the Liberal Democrats as the Party of choice, and are committed to working hard to get elected and join the ranks of Liberal Democrat councillors."

Amongst those is Claire Hoang from Manchester who has been put in touch with Mia Tan, former Councillor of Chester and a member of the Government's Equalities Task Force and Cllr Linda Chung, Councillor of Camden.
