Following on from last years popular Chinese Embassy fringe, this was a well attended event with the topic "UK and China - Partners in a changing World".

Chinese Ambassador Liu Xiao Ming was introduced by China expert and lawyer, Lord Tim Clement-Jones at a thought provoking event which was later closed by Jeremy Browne MP, the new Minister of State for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Ambassador Liu spoke fluently of how the world had changed in the last decade through globalisation and has become more accessible as well as free. At the same time there is much diversity, and sometimes there is no 'one size fits all' solutions to problems.

Chinese Lib Dem Chair, Merlene asked the Ambassador his and China's attitude with regard to the overseas Chinese living in Britain. She was assured by the Ambassador of the important role that they played in bridging the two countries. He also said that he has been greatly impressed by the strides made by British Chinese in UK politics and gave them encouragement and hope in their pursuits.
