After the Chinese Embassy fringe event it seemed fitting that the evening was rounded off with the Chinese Lib Dem's dinner banquet at the Mayflower Restaurant with Deputy Leader Simon Hughes MP as guest speaker.

This year we had a lot to be pleased with, having stood more Chinese candidates in the parliamentary elections than ever before, increased our coverage in the Chinese Media, and raised the profile of the party as a whole and the issues facing the Chinese community.

Simon Hughes commented on how apt it was that the main party Conference was being held in Liverpool, the oldest Chinese community in the UK and of how much the Chinese as a community had contributed towards the British economy as well as to its rich cultural fabric.

Brief speeches were also given by parliamentary candidates Philip Ling, Allan Siao Ming Witherick thanking people for their support, but also highlighting that there was still much to do in the party.
