Engaging the Chinese community together and abroad
After the Liberal Democrat Conference in Liverpool Nick Clegg announced that the party is setting up a network of Liberal Democrats living and working overseas. Liberal Democrats Abroad will be based in the International Office of the Party HQ in Cowley St with Lord Paddy Ashdown as its Patron.
The aims of Liberal Democrats Abroad are simple. We want to ensure Lib Dems living overseas can stay in touch with the Party in the UK and make certain that, in return, the Party understands the concerns of its members overseas. We will also encourage our members and supporters to register to vote in the UK and encourage new members to join the party.
The Chinese Liberal Democrats in particular are keen to support the party in it's efforts not just in China but also in the Asia Pacific region including Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia. We know that many in the UK and overseas keep close family, friends and business links, and we feel that political links are just as important.
If you are interested in being involved with Liberal Democrats Abroad or knows of any Liberal Democrat members or potential members living in the Asia Pacific region they can contact either the Chinese Liberal Democrats, info@chineselibdems.org.uk, Paul Speller at libdemsabroad@libdems.org.uk.
