Gala Dinner for GLA campaign
On the evening of 4 December, London Liberal Democrats held the first of their major fundraising events for the 2016 London Mayor and Assembly Campaign at a hotel ballroom in Kensington,
Led by Caroline Pidgeon AM, the Liberal Democrats Mayoral Candidate, the evening was supported by members and friends across London as well as by the Chinese Liberal Democrats and the BC Project who had hosted a table each.
Caroline said:
"I'm especially delighted to be fighting to be London's first female Mayor, alongside a great team of women - with Emily Davey and Merlene Emerson at numbers 2 and 3 on our Assembly List. With our great record of achieving for women in the Coalition, I'm determined the next Mayor and Assembly will do far more for the capital's children and families, and women-led businesses."
The event was also attended by the Chinese press who were pleased to be covering the activities of the Liberal Democrats and their policies, as they were the party fielding the only British Chinese candidate for the London Assembly in 2016.
Merlene Emerson said:
"I hope to bring to the Assembly my experience as a city solicitor and Housing Association chair. Having practised in the areas of cross border transactions and international finance. I will work for London to stay competitive globally but ensuring that we also have the jobs and housing that Londoners need."
